Slaughterhaus Haunted House (R.I.P.)

Image
Get a load of SLAUGHTERHAUS! It's a Nightmare on Post Road this year since the owners of PRRC have taken back their haunt (formerly known as 'Corpse Manor'), and will be offering a disgustingly dismal tour of this enormous 7,000 sq ft house with tons of sick and twisted shockers from a depressing beginning to the 'Freaky' end. We apologize in advance if something were to startle you suddenly... Location 4700 N. Post Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46229 Phone 317-897-7908 Website Slaughterhaus

2015 Review: FriteLodge Haunted House

Image
For the second year in a row we made it out to FriteLodge !  Seriously, I can't ever seem to get enough of this haunt!  If I still had the time to get back into haunt acting, this would definitely be my first choice!  But, to the point, this haunt a had a new theme this year, Sweet Dreams (last year was Home Unsweet Home). Let's dig in, shall we... Sweet Dreams This is one of the hardest haunts to describe.  It really has to be experienced.  That's probably one of the biggest compliments that we can give a haunt.  The people at FriteLodge do SO MUCH  with so little, and their efforts do not go unnoticed. Everyone from the owner down to actors care about this place.  And that sense of community just glows through every creak and crevice in the haunt. The new theme, Sweet Dreams, is pretty damn cool.  It plays with internal fears and emotions and is super effective in doing so. The haunt itself feels so big, and when it's all o...

2015 Review: Haunted Angelus House

Image
We finally made it out to Haunted Angelus House !  We wanted to visit this one last year but our schedule didn't quite work out in our favor.  So, needless to say, we made this haunt a priority this year.  Located just off the highway, this one is super easy to find, parking is no problem and best of all -- there's a Halloween store attached (Ron's Halloween). Let's dig in, shall we... Haunted Angelus House Upon entering Haunted Angelus, you're immediately taken into the customary waiting room.  Haunted Angelus does a great  job of setting the scene early.  You're greeted by siniamouster mannequins dressed in spooky garb and entertained on a large projection screen with zombies tearing apart a man and being shot dead. After a short wait, you're met at the actual entrance by, in my opinion, one of the liveliest ticket-takers I have ever encountered -- she was a real hoot!  And she does a great job of keeping the groups separated by several ...

2015 Review: Niles Haunted House Scream Park

Image
For the second year in a row, we made the almost-three-hour trek up north to Niles, Michigan to the Niles Haunted House Scream Park -- and again, we were NOT disappointed. Niles was pretty impressive last year in 2014, but how exactly did it fair in 2015? Let's dig in, shall we... Kingdoms End Each year, the main house at Niles gets a redesign.  This year, their theme is Kingdoms End, a haunt based almost entirely on the works on Stephen King. And you know what?  It's awesome!  Every minute of it.  Awesome.  Almost all of King's more famous works are represented here.  Whether you want to see Carrie get crowned at the prom or pass by a Pet Sematary or even walk through a dark hedge maze, it's all here! Kingdoms End is packed full of scares and surprises and is definitely an attraction you don't want to miss when visiting Niles Scream Park. Ashes to Ashes Now this was a cool one I didn't expect.  Ashes to Ashes is set up like an ...

2015 Review: House of Trepidation

Image
The 2015 haunt season is officially here!  And we kicked off our year with Indianapolis' newest haunted house -- House of Trepidation !  We were invited to a special invite-only soft-opening and we were made aware that they were working with a limited staff (they're official open date is 9/25, we visited on 9/24).  And as is what's becoming the the norm, House of Trepidation offers not one, not two, but three attractions! Let's dig in, shall we... House of Trepidation We started off with the namesake attraction, the "house" of Dr. Belle, who is the running theme throughout the whole haunt.  Immediately upon entering, your eyes snap directly to a marvelous faux staircase -- and it really sets the scene for what's to come. The decorations and set-up throughout this attraction is excellent, especially for a first-year haunt.  It's incredibly obvious that a ton of work and effort hast been poured into this place.  And the acting, for a haunt, ...

Want Your Own Haunt? Build One!

Image
Image © yardhaunterkevin242 Something I come across a lot of the time is people who love haunts and want nothing more than to one day own their own professional haunt.  Sometimes this isn't always feasible, though -- whether it be the costs or time associated with it.  An easier and more cost effective (most of the time) solution is the classic home haunt (or yard haunt, whichever you prefer). I recently stumbled on this awesome video diary of a couple building a haunt in their garage.  Like most aspiring haunters, they're not working with a whole lot of space, but they're able to fit a neat and very effective little haunt in the comfort of their own garage! These videos come courtesy of terpsichoreankid ! Take a look! How about you?  Have you built a haunted house on your property?  If so, we'd LOVE to see it! Our main objective is reviewing professional haunts, but we would like to see yours as well!  What can we say, we're suckers f...
